The SureFire Institute offers training for law enforcement and military personnel in low-light tactics, handling and use of firearms and edged weapons, and unarmed defensive and combative techniques.

+ Low-light training is a must - not an option - for both law enforcement and military urban operations. More than two out of three officer homicides, and most violent crimes, occur during the hours of darkness or in diminished light.

+ Yet most training takes place in daylight. And little or no training is given in the key principles of low-light tactics or in the proper deployment of the handheld flashlight, a basic tool of both police officers and soldiers conducting urban operations.

+ The SureFire Institute was founded to rectify this situation. SFI has developed techniques and that can be immediately implemented by police, military, security, and protection services. Our force-on-force courses utilize role-playing aggressors armed with paint-marking training weapons to provide the realism, stress, and continually shifting dynamics needed to drive home life-saving knowledge and responses.

+ SFI has a proven track record in developing highly effective training programs to meet the needs of military and law enforcement personnel. We are determined to remain at the cutting edge of tactical training, and constantly update, improve, and validate our methods with force-on-force testing and input from instructors and professionals who have prevailed in altercations and lethal-force encounters in the field. From these sources we have defined simple principles and techniques that can be easily learned and taught to others.

+ SFI offers a spectrum of courses, including training in firearms and edged weapons, unarmed defensive and combative techniques, law enforcement and military low-light tactics, and tactical/protective driving. Our Integrated Combat System makes it easy to customize a course to fit any client or mission profile. We can provide training at our southern California sites or at your location, subject to appropriate local facilities. See our complete course list, which links to individual course descriptions.
